Today we spent the entire block reviewing the adding and subtracting integer assessment. It was the first time the students experienced standards based grading so I took extra time explaining the levels of problems and how they are assessed.
Afterwards I spent time going over my retake policy and how students much turn in evidence of study to be eligible for a retake. They have one week to prepare for the out of class assessment–usually done in math lab or after school.
I wrapped it up by handing out a progress monitoring sheet and having students reflect on their performance.
